Swedish body massage not accredited. Why?

Swedish Body Massage level 3, Brighton Holistics, FHT Sussex

Why isn’t Swedish Body Massage covered under the Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA)?

The Swedish Body Massage core curriculum is based on the Beauty Industry Standard which does not fall within the complementary healthcare requirements for either Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) or the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). The following therapies meet the requirements:-

Acupuncture; Alexander technique; aromatherapy; body massage; Bowen technique; counselling; cranio-sacral therapy; healing; homeopathy; hypnotherapy; kinesiology; microsystems acupuncture; naturopathy; nutritional therapy; reflexology; Reiki; shiatsu; sports massage; sports Massage therapy and yoga therapy.

Upon completion of any of these courses listed above you will be able to register with the Federation of Holistics Therapists (FHT). You will not however be able to register with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) nor with the Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA).
