Brighton Holistics are pleased to offer you the ‘Sports Massage Therapy Level 4 and 5 qualification’ training course in Brighton.

Title: Sports Massage Therapy Level 4 and 5 Qualification
Accreditation: This course is a Level 4 & 5 Qualification and is fully accredited by the Federation of Holistics Therapists (FHT), the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) and the Vocational Training Charity Trust (VTCT).
Cost of the Course: The cost of this course is £1550. Inclusive of VAT.
Course Fee Covers: The course fee covers all FHT assessment and exam fees, as well as,  Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology.

Brief: This level 4 and 5 Sports Massage Therapy training course taught at Brighton Holistics is comprehensive and practical. This course is designed to up-skill sports therapists with advanced techniques and the tools, skills and understanding to be able to assess and treat common patterns of dysfunction and suitable pre-diagnosed injuries.
Requirements: Learners must be over the age of 18 and meet the pre-course pre-requisites, which are shown below.
Alternative: This course is available as a Weekday course and as a Weekend course.
Duration: Weekday – This course takes approximately 10 months to complete. There is an initial 1 day starting from the course start date shown above, with a further 5 tutorial days spread throughout the course duration, plus your final assessment day.

Weekend  The weekend version of this course takes approximately 10 months to complete. There is an initial 1 day starting from the course start date shown above, with a further 5 tutorial days spread throughout the course duration, plus your final assessment day.

During 10 months you will need to attend 7 training days (this includes your assessment day) at Brighton Holistics. Each training day starts at 10.30 am and finishes at around 4.30 pm. Please note that this is a part-time course. Due to the amount of information covered in the course home studies of approximately 5 hours per week will be required.

COVID-19 Alteration: Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, for the foreseeable future, all theory lessons will be carried out using Zoom. Your theory lesson will take place the evening before your practical session from 7.30 pm till 9.30 pm. If you are unable to attend the theory lesson, please contact the Brighton Holistics Administration Office by email through the contact us page of the website, to rearrange a time which suits you. On the training day itself, the group will be split into a morning session, starting at 10 am till 12.30 and an afternoon session, starting 2 pm till 4.30 pm. Learners must bring their own models to work on during the practical module. Only two learners and their models (total of four people plus tutor) are permitted into the treatment room during this time. During the practical training session, a sealed bottled of water will be provided, but please feel free to bring a flask of hot drink with you for you and your model. Towels must be provided by the learner, and you will be asked to sign a disclaimer to say your towels have been freshly washed at 60°C or above. No towels will be provided by Brighton Holistics for models to use. Before any learner or model is allowed entry into the training room, their temperature will be checked to ensure it is under the allowed limit.

Sports Massage Therapy Level 4 and 5 Qualification Training Course – More Details

This level 4 and 5 Sports Massage Therapy training course taught at Brighton Holistics is comprehensive and practical. This course is designed to up-skill sports therapists with advanced techniques and the tools, skills and understanding to be able to assess and treat common patterns of dysfunction and suitable pre-diagnosed injuries.

The Sports Level 4 & 5 course builds on the skills gained at Level 3 and will comprehensively provide an understanding of injury management, allowing therapists to expand their client base. On completion of the Sports Massage Therapy Level 4 & 5 courses you will be able to treat injuries in Health Clubs and Sporting facilities, repetitive strain injuries as well as offering ongoing massage maintenance for your clients. Also, a number of health insurance companies will refer clients to you if you are registered with the correct professional body and meet the requirements they require.

During the course we will cover the following topics:

  • Client care and preparation,
  • Advanced Anatomy and Physiology,
  • Soft Tissue Dysfunction and Injury,
  • Legislation and working practices,
  • Client consultations including contraindications and restrictions,
  • Reflective practice,
  • Good practice and legal obligations management of injuries,
  • Soft tissue mobilisation,
  • Postural analysis,
  • Range of movement tests (ROM),
  • Active, passive and resistive stretches,
  • Stretching and rehabilitative exercises,
  • Advanced massage techniques,
    • Frictions,
    • Soft Tissue Release,
    • METS,
    • Trigger points,
  • Taping and Strapping,
  • Myofascial release.

Due to the amount of information covered in the course, home studies of approximately 5 hours per week will be required.

Please note that one-day courses or online courses in Sports Body Massage are not recognised qualifications. This means they do not meet the National Occupational Standard or Core Curriculum. Qualification gained:

Level 4 & 5 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy. Accredited by the Federation of Holistics Therapists (FHT).

Course accreditation:

This course is a Level 4 and 5 qualification and is fully accredited by the Federation of Holistics Therapists (FHT), the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) and the Vocational Training Charity Trust (VTCT).

Course Pre-requisites:

Applicants must be 18 years or over and hold a recognised accredited Level 3 Sports Massage Diploma. Basic computer skills are required to complete your case studies.

Class Size:

A maximum of eight learners per class, this allows the tutor to monitor individuals progress and development. Please see the booking terms and conditions for information.

Manuals & Certification:

Training manuals will be downloadable to each learner via their online learning portal. These manuals will be available to download for 60 days once your course has started. It will be the learner’s responsibility to download and save the training manuals within this time. Manuals can be read on all devices. Certification for your course will be emailed to you once you have met the learning outcomes.

Learning Outcomes & Evidence of achievement:

Learners will be required to show the achievement of a range of relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria, as set by the National Occupational Standard and accrediting body by:

  • Practical assessments and theoretical knowledge will be assessed during your training time.
  • Presentation of six client case studies each case study must comprise of four treatments and record a minimum 100-hour logbook of practice treatments. (Up to 30 hours can be completed at Level 3 with the balance of 100 hours being completed at Level 4).
  • Presentation of six client case studies each case study must comprise of four treatments and record a minimum 136-hour logbook of practice treatments. (Level 5).

Upon completion of this course you will be able to register with the Federation of Holistics Therapists (FHT), the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) as well as being able to register on the Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA).

To book your course, simply choose the date you wish to start your course on and whether you wish to pay just the deposit or the full payment and click the ‘Add to basket’ button. Then click ‘View basket’ (you can add as many items to the basket as you wish) and select ‘Processed to checkout’. You will then be required to complete the checkout process which requires you answering a number of questions. Now choose how you wish to pay; you have three options. PayPal, credit or debit card or over the telephone. You will also see an option to pay by instalments. Please note that this option is only available when booking a Level 3 qualification course. Short courses and online courses cannot be booked using instalment payments.
